Poem in trans(la)tion

Okay, for all the monophones who have requested a translation of my broadside poem, here goes (with a reminder of Robert Frost who observed that what gets lost in translation is the poem itself)…

Language

Sometimes language lies in a stuck drawer beneath my chin and I have to make noises that only resemble words, that contain pieces of real words, that perhaps resemble language, I hope they do and cast a glance at you and see that you too are looking at me and between us is a space filled with all our meanings that don’t get said.

The poem was published in a broadside and postcard series along with those of 6 other Norwegian poets in conjunction with the 35th anniversary of the North Norwegian Writer’s Association.
